A broad leaf evergreen ground cover, kinnikinnick is very hardy. It thrives in partial shade and will spread along the ground or grow along a slope, providing some erosion control. Drought tolerant and deer resistant, kinnikinnick is easy to grow. Little bell shaped pink flowers give way to red berries in fall. These berries are edible and, if not harvested, will remain on the plant as bright red as gems through winter. A tea or tincture of the leaves help the body regulate pH and clear out infection in the urinary tract.
